Victoria Coren once placed advertisements in British newspapers for the memorial of the recently deceased Sir William Ormerod - a fictional character of Coren's creation - as part of a planned hoax intended to trap and expose a group who turned up to memorial services for people they'd never actually met.
Victoria Coren is a writer, journalist and TV presenter, as well as a professional poker player. She is the daughter of famous journalist and humorist Alan Coren; and her brother Giles Coren is a well-known food critic, journalist and TV presenter. In March 2012 she announced her engagement to British television comedian David Mitchell.
Vicky Coren was the first woman to win a European Poker Tour event, as well as being the first poker player to win both a televised celebrity tournament (Celebrity Poker Club 2005) and a televised professional tournament (EPT London 2006). Victoria has presented and commentated for numerous live poker events both on satellite and mainstream terrestrial channels. She is a frequent visitor to London's Victoria Casino, and plays in regular home games.
Coren is a member of Team Poker Stars Pro. In early 2012 she tweeted Jonathan Ross, prompting him to visit the Poker Stars site following a tweet from Ross whilst ill and bed-ridden stating that he was looking to learn online poker.
