Reasons why Poker Players don’t get Rakeback
By RTR Dennis
As you may or may not know, good rakeback deals are a critical part of online poker success because they save players major money on tournament/cash game rake fees. This being said, you’d think that any sane person would seek out rakeback before they hit the poker tables. However, the truth is that there are plenty of players who don’t get a deal due to various circumstances. So it’s definitely worth exploring these reasons more and discussing why grinders need rakeback.
Reason #1 – A player signs up directly through a poker site.
The most common reason for not having rakeback arises when somebody signs up directly through a poker site. This is a huge mistake because rakeback deals don’t come through online poker rooms, but rather affiliates instead. Poker affiliates like RakeTheRake pay out rakeback from the commissions they receive; in other words, it’s like a reward to players for helping affiliates make money. So be sure that you sign up at online poker rooms through affiliates in order to get cash back on rake you generate.
Reason #2 – Players don’t think they can go back and get rakeback
Once you sign up directly through an online poker site, you’re stuck without rakeback at that particular room. After all, poker sites don’t allow players to create new accounts through an affiliate just to get a rakeback deal. So it’s no wonder why many players think all hope is lost upon later realizing their mistake. But this doesn’t mean a player can’t sign up at another poker site via an affiliate and get a deal. So we highly advise that you consider signing up at another site to take advantage of rakeback.
Reason #3 – Recreational players are too lazy
Expanding on the previous reason for not getting rakeback, some players just don’t want to take the extra time and leave their current room for rakeback. After all, this would require them to leave the site that they’ve gotten comfortable with in pursuit of a deal. However, the truth is that it’s definitely worth a player’s time to sign up at another site where they can collect rakeback. In fact, you could save hundreds or even thousands of dollars in the future just by taking 10 minutes to sign up through an affiliate and get rakeback.
Reason #4 – Some top poker sites don’t have rakeback
Perhaps the one excusable reason for not taking advantage of rakeback is when you play at a site where none of these offers exist. Top sites like PokerStars don’t allow affiliates to offer rakeback because they feel that their VIP programs are already generous enough. Essentially, frequent players will earn the equivalent of rakeback through cashback and other VIP bonuses. However, if you’re just an occasional recreational player, you’ll probably benefit more from rakeback.
Reason #5 – Players think rakeback doesn’t make a big difference
Not everybody is educated on rakeback since players normally learn about this concept long after being introduced to poker. That said, many amateur rounders dismiss rakeback as a small offer that won’t make much of a difference. But as we’ve discussed in the past, rakeback can make a huge difference in your overall profits – no matter how much online poker you play. Keeping this in mind, you shouldn’t let any of the aforementioned reasons prevent you from securing a poker rakeback deal.
