Dusk Till Dawn APAT UK Team Championship Returns
By RTR Alex
APAT has consistently done great things for the amateur poker community and continues to do so to this day. They are the home of World Championship of Amateur Poker (WCOAP), the APAT Cash Tour and Poker Circuit news, keeping fans up to date on everything poker. They currently host 60,000 members and run year-round competitions all over the world, offering local and international rankings for all those that compete.
Now, the UK Team Championship is returning to the APAT schedule, and fans and competitors alike don’t have long to prepare for the action. Moving beyond the virtual felt of online poker, the 2022 APAT UK Team Championship begins at Dusk Till Dawn on February 11th and runs until the 13th.
This year's sign-up cost is £120 and so far, 35 eight-player teams have entered for a chance to be crowned the 2022 victors.
A £28,000 prize pool is guaranteed to be split between competitors - distributed on a 75/25 basis to the top five teams and the top nine players respectively, plenty of the entrants could take home some cash by the end of the weekend. Additionally, the top 3 teams will receive prestigious gold, silver and bronze medals.
As always, team points will be scored based on individual player finishing positions. The points will start being counted on Day 2 and work on a ‘reverse position’ scoring system - eg: 75th place wins 1 point, 1st place wins 75 points. As per the rules, teams will continue the tradition of matching team colours.
After a hugely entertaining 2020 Championship, Covid-19 put an unfortunate stop to 2021's schedule. Now, with 2022 set to be the big comeback for the competition, reigning champs, Two and a Half Nits, are returning to defend their title. The same team members - Matthew Gillard, Patrick Clouden, Farhan Ahmed, David Tyler, Paul Jackson, Haydn Campbell, and Jordan Gillard - will be battling it out once again.
The 2020 individual champion, Tom Clark, is also returning to defend his title. As part of the East Herts Poker League who finished fourth, Clark defeated Matt Dale in a heads-up showdown to win the gold medal and the £1,700 prize.
Here's a full rundown of all the teams and individuals competing this year:

Although the UK Team Championship applications are closed with a full line-up, there are three side events players can still get involved in. Each tournament has a strict player cap, so if you're looking to take part you'll need to apply sooner rather than later. The UK Team Championship is a completely open event, meaning any poker player can apply and play in the championship or the weekend supporting events.
The event has sometimes seen last minute team dropouts, and therefore, as they have done previously, APAT will host a reserve list. The list will comprise teams that did not meet the buy-in deadline of Jan 14th on a first-come first-serve basis. In the case of a dropout, these teams will be offered entry at full-price and the dropout team will also be reimbursed their full buy-in cost.
More to Come
Beyond the UK series, APAT plans include a Pot-Limit Omaha variant as a main Championship event in the WCOAP in August. Even further away is the UK County Championship, where the buy-in will be €100+€20. APAT is working hard, in conjunction with operators and venues, to bring life back to the amateur poker scene.
