2020 WSOP Online Series Will Offer 85 Bracelet Events
By RTR Dennis
The World Series of Poker postponed its Vegas-based live series on April 20 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19). The 2020 WSOP will likely run in the fall. For now, though, organizers are gearing up for an online series that’ll offer 85 gold bracelets.
WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart says, “Officials competitions are expected to be played online this summer, which will allow players to chase glory from their homes.”
Players will have to wait on the dates for the fall live series. However, they can look forward to official online tournaments from July 1 through September 6.
Plans Have Changed
The World Series of Poker awarded its first-ever online bracelet in 2015. Since then, the number of such gold bracelets have steadily increased.
This year’s series was set to offer 14 online bracelets out of the 101 tournaments. However, the coronavirus has convinced officials to add far more online tourneys.
Now, the 2020 WSOP will give away 85 gold bracelets through internet-based tourneys. 31 of these events are taking place at WSOP.com in July.
Those playing at WSOP.com must be within either New Jersey or Nevada to participate. The remaining 54 tournaments will happen through an international-based website.
“It wouldn’t be summer without WSOP,” says Stewart. “[The WSOP is] thrilled to be reopening our venues and optimistic about future offline events.”
Currently Available 2020 WSOP Online Schedule
In July, WSOP.com will hold a different bracelet event every day (31 total). Buy-ins will range from $400 to $3,200.
These buy-ins certainly aren’t as large as what’s featured through the live WSOP each year. However, they’re definitely big for online events and will lead to some huge prize pools.
Every tourney will feature a pot-limit Omaha or no-limit hold’em format. Here’s a look at the events that’ll run on WSOP.com:
