2013 SCOOP pays $75.6m – Richest Online Series Ever

Over the years, PokerStars has achieved a number of world records and accolades. And now PokerStars can add one more impressive accomplishment to the list – the richest online poker series ever.

The 2013 Spring Championship of Online Poker paid out $75,585,435 total, which is over $10 million more than the previous year. Thanks to all of this money, many players earned huge paydays. Speaking of which, let’s take a quick look at some of the biggest and most notable winners from the 2013 SCOOP.

Viktor “Isildur1” Blom wins SCOOP Main Event
Viktor Blom stepped away from the high stakes cash tables to compete in the 2013 SCOOP Main Event High. And this turned out to be an excellent decision as he won the $10,300 buy-in tournament along with a $1,096,200 prize.

Blom had no trouble surviving the first day as the 580-player starting field was trimmed to 72 grinders. After starting Day 2 second in chips, Isildur1 remained steady and was fourth in chips heading into the nine-player final table. From here he worked his way into a heads-up match with noted Dutch pro Noah “Exclusive” Boeken.

With a 3-1 chip advantage, Boeken was in pretty good shape against Blom. However, the tables were quickly turned and Isildur1 finished Boeken off in less than an hour of play. Here’s a quick look at the final table results:

Other Main Event Winners
While Blom headlined the Main Event winners, there were a couple of other ME champs who earned big money. Brazil’s Nicolau “nicefellow” Villa-Lobos took down the Main Event Medium ($1,050 buy-in) and collected $472,709. Villa-Lobos was involved in a four-way deal towards the end, which saw PokerStars Pro Randy “nanonoko” Lew earn $368,445 for fourth place.

Israel’s “MLiz” won the Main Event Low ($109 buy-in) tourney along with a $189,015 payout. And winning this event was no small feat because MLiz had to outlast a field of 23,045 players to win.

Danzer wins Top Player Honors
Team PokerStars Pro George Danzer was a very busy man during the 2013 SCOOP since he played in 130 tournaments over 16 days. He did quite well too after cashing 24 times, making four final tables, and winning two tourneys. Thanks to his large playing volume, Danzer won Player of the Series honors in both the high buy-in and overall categories. His rewards include prize packages to the 2014 Caribbean PokerStars Adventure and the EPT 10 Grand Final.

Daniel Negreanu wins First SCOOP Title
While many prominent players won SCOOP titles, few were as notable as Daniel Negreanu. ‘KidPoker’ earned his win in the Event #33 $5,200 PL Omaha tournament and cashed for $216,000. Negreanu has been working on his online poker game over the past two years, and the hard work definitely paid off in this year’s SCOOP.
