Sam Trickett destroys UK’s Poker Winnings List

For quite some time, Dave “Devilfish” Ulliot was top of the UK’s all-time poker tournament winnings list with over $6 million. But then Sam Trickett came along and had a fantastic year in 2011, which saw him win the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event and Aussie Millions $100k title, and finish second in the Aussie Millions $250k. All in all, Trickett collected $4,498,038 on the year and nudged by Ulliot to become the UK’s tournament winnings leader.

Of course, there was still an opportunity for somebody else to work their way up to where Trickett was with a huge tournament win or two. However, any chance of this seems long gone after what the live and online poker star recently accomplished in the $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop event.

One Drop Runner-up
People had been anticipating the Big One for One Drop for months. And when this tournament finally came to fruition, there were no disappointments since the action was exciting and payouts were huge. Sam Trickett definitely shared in the big payouts too after he finished runner-up to Antonio Esfandiari ($18,346,673) and collected $10,112,001 for his efforts.

It's worth mentioning that Trickett didn’t receive the entire $10.1 million because he had backers – like every other pro player in this event. But no matter what amount of money he actually collected from the massive payout, the fortune goes onto his career tournament winnings. And this pushes his career earnings up to $16,471,097, which seemingly obliterates any chance of another Brit ever passing him. To put things into perspective, second place Ulliot is about $10.4 million behind the Nottingham native.

You may never be able to collect $10,112,001 in a single tournament like Trickett, but you can at least get started down the right path by signing up at an online poker site and taking advantage of rakeback. A Rough Night
Following his second place finish in the Big One for One Drop, Trickett celebrated his huge tournament score by going to a Las Vegas nightclub. Unfortunately, the celebration was cut short when six guys beat Trickett up outside the club. He later tweeted about the incident by saying that the men jumped him over a minor disagreement, which is pretty ridiculous.

But in the end, Trickett was released from the hospital and his $10.1 million cash still remains intact. Furthermore, he will no doubt always be a legend in the UK poker community.
