The BIG ONE for ONE DROP: Huge $1million Buy-in Tournament

The World Series of Poker has announced an astonishing $1,000,000 buy-in tournament that will take place on the 1st July at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas! Not only will this gigantic poker event see the first ever Platinum WSOP Bracelet awarded to the winner, the tournament will donate $111,111 (11.1%) from every single buy-in to the charity ONE DROP - this means that if the 48 player* cap is reached, over $5 million will be raised!

ONE DROP is a non-governmental organisation established in Montreal, Canada by Guy Lamberté (founder of Cirque du Soleil). One Drop’s aim is to support access to clean water through an approach focussed on popular education and social art, it’s ultimate aim being to promote safe water for everyone, everwhere. ‘The Big One for One Drop’ will be a No Limit Hold’em High Roller Championship event as part of the forty third annual WSOP. No rake fees will be taken from the prize pool, and 20% of the field will finish in the money – that’s double the average amount of nearly all other poker tournaments. The tournament is expected to generate one of the largest prize pools in poker history (outside of the WSOP main event), with the winner walking away with millions of dollars.

The Big One for One Drop’s mixture of philanthropy and massive prize pool has attracted businessmen, venture capitalists, and hedge fund managers who (tantalisingly) wish to remain anonymous at this time. The huge tourney also boasts a massive list of confirmed poker stars including Sam Trickett, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Jonathan Duhamel, Jonny Chan, Gus Hansen, Erik Seidel, Bertrand Grospellier, and Daniel Negreanu.
