Sam Trickett is not just a pro poker player and ex-footballer, he is also a CORGI registered gas engineer!
Long before his poker career, Sam Trickett had his heart set on becoming a professional footballer. He was playing football at semi-professional level, but in 2005 he was forced to give up the sport owing to a knee injury. Looking for something else on which to focus his time and energy, Trickett started playing poker locally and after a short time was a regular on the Sheffield poker scene.
Trickett entered the 2008 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas and finished fourth in the $5,000 No Limit Event, taking a prize of $245,000. In the same year he won the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (Luton) Main Event to take prize money of $210,000.
2011 was an astonishing year for Sam Trickett, as he managed to cash for more than $3 million in less than a month in super high buy-in small field no limit hold'em tournaments. In addition to a big win at the PCA, at the Aussie Millions he won the $100k buy-in high roller event, and took second place in the $250k super high roller event. In November of 2011, Trickett also won the Partouche Poker Tour main event in Cannes to take €1 million.
